1.0 Preamble

The Lagos State Examinations was established to take full control of the administration
and processing of tests for all categories of Examinations under its purview including
collation and publication of results:

2.0 Responsibility

The Examinations Board has the responsibility for the following Examinations.
School Oriented Examinations
1. Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) formerly JSCE
2. Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Re-sit
3. Lagos State Screening Test Exams and Upgraded Model Schools
4. Basic Education Examination by CAS formerly Primary School Leaving certificate by CAS

Public Service Oriented Examinations
1. Compulsory Confirmatory / Promotion Examinations for Clerical Officers
2. Compulsory Examinations for Administrative and Executive Offices
3. External Secretarial Examinations for Secretarial Assistance and Confidential Secretaries
4. Trade Test Examinations

3.0 Other Major Statutory Functions

Understanding the Computerization of Examinations
Data / Records and Statistical processing of Raw Score. Co-ordination and Monitoring of
Continuous Assessment Procedures / Schemes / Committees at State, Local Government Area and
School levels for the realisation of Uniform Standards
Appointment of Award of Committees for the various Examinations conducted but the Board
Award of Certificates to deserving candidates of prescribed examinations
Service Oriented Examinations
